According to the Great British Ghost Tour, the ghost of a former squire was reported in the area before 1925. He was said to be unhappy with the husband his widow had chosen, and even more so with how quickly she had married again after his death.
Suspicious locals wondered whether his death had been entirely natural, but nothing was ever found to support the idea. The squire is not named, and neither is the widow, so the story cannot be tied to any particular member of the family.
It is included as a single report from one of the Vale's old gentry houses, and it sits alongside the much older fairy lore of the dingle behind it.
