The Andreas Boy Taken by the Fairies

Andreas parish

A farmer's son in Andreas named John disappeared, and for four years his family had no idea where he was. In that time, odd things happened around the farm. His brothers, near a thorn bush close to the house, heard a sharp crack with nothing to account for it. His mother heard footsteps that she would have sworn were his.

Then John came back. He told them he had been with the fairies all along, and never far away. He had watched them going about their work, and had even gone with them on a trip to Ramsey. The crack by the thorn bush had been a fairy shooting an arrow at his brothers. The footsteps his mother heard had been his own. He could not come home until, for reasons he did not know, they let him go.

Map point is Andreas village; the farm is not identified.
