A house in the parish of Annaclone is said to stand on the site of an earlier home where a twelve-year-old girl died long ago after falling into an open fire. The old house is gone, and the family built a new two-storey house on the same site.
In 2007 two family members and some friends were in the house when a loud bang came from upstairs. They ran into the garden. One girl fell, and as the others turned to help her they saw a face at an upstairs window: a young girl, but horribly disfigured, with orange-looking skin as if badly burned and straggly black hair. A charred hand drew back the blind and she smiled down at them in a way they described as knowing and sinister. A search of the house found nobody.
Three weeks later one of the witnesses, home alone, saw the same figure at the top of the stairs. The girl's mother also felt someone brush past her while cleaning an upstairs cupboard when she was alone in the house. The family had local clergy bless the house.
