Seven red lights over Clapham

Clapham, near Bedford

Saturday 7 June, year not stated on the page

The East Anglian UFO sightings site lists a Bedfordshire entry reproducing a local news report. It says teenagers in Appenine Way recreation ground in Leighton Buzzard had filmed what they thought was a UFO on a mobile phone a few weeks earlier, a very bright object in the night sky that they said hovered for ages and was accompanied by red flashing lights. The young people dismissed the idea that it was an aeroplane.

The report adds that flashing lights had also been seen over Clapham and Luton. The group Scope-Paranormal.com had been analysing footage taken by a resident of Clapham at 9.45pm on Saturday 7 June, which shows seven red lights moving in formation for around two and a half minutes. The group's spokeswoman, Sharon Chesterman, said that put together with the witness statement they believed something was happening. She noted similar recent sightings in America, in which seven red lights moved in a circle and one dropped down to form a triangle, and a comparable incident reported by three police officers in a force helicopter in South Wales on the same evening.

The page does not state the year, and the site warns that the entries are sent in by viewers and their accuracy cannot be guaranteed. The page does not say whether ordinary explanations such as lanterns were considered. It is kept here as a thin, dated-by-weekday report with a named group behind the analysis. The pin is on the village rather than a specific spot.
