The Hooded Monk of Bobbington Road

Bobbington Road, Bobbington

In 2009, a hooded figure resembling a monk was reported running across Bobbington Road near the South Staffordshire village of Bobbington, before vanishing into an adjoining open field, an unusually specific and active sighting compared to the more static, watching or standing figures that make up most of the hooded apparitions recorded elsewhere in this collection. This one did not simply appear and linger; witnesses describe him actively moving, running with apparent urgency across the road before the field seemed to simply absorb him.

No witness name has survived alongside the report, and no further sighting in the years since has been traced to add any weight or repetition to this single account. Perhaps most notably, no obvious historical connection, no former monastic site, no documented religious history for this particular stretch of road, has ever been offered to explain why a monk, specifically, should be the figure associated with this location rather than any other kind of apparition.

That absence of context leaves the Bobbington Road monk as a genuinely isolated, undated-beyond-its-single-year local report rather than any kind of established tradition with roots reaching back through generations of retelling. It is recorded here honestly as exactly that: one witnessed event, striking in its detail, but standing entirely alone without the surrounding history that would let a fuller story be built around it.

Bobbington Road is a public highway.
