The stag is described in the local press feature and in a hotel ghost-trail blog, both without a named witness. A white stag or hart is a recurrent figure in Celtic and medieval legend, often as a herald of a death or a portal to another world. The two forms of the story, as a death omen and as a good-luck sign, are typical of how an omen is reinterpreted over time.
