The landlady of the Cutter Inn, Ely

The Cutter Inn, 42 Annesdale, Ely

Undated

The Cutter Inn is on Annesdale by the river Great Ouse in Ely. The only account found of its ghost is the Spooky Isles roundup of Ely haunted places, which says legend speaks of a former landlady who refuses to give up her place behind the bar.

Patrons are said to have seen her spectral figure gliding through the rooms, felt an icy brush against an arm, or noticed the faint scent of old-fashioned perfume. The article says some read her as a protective presence watching over her inn and others as someone not ready to move on.

No name, date or witness is given for the landlady, so this is tagged as a single report and a pub tradition.
