The Historylinks archive holds a 2003 newspaper cutting in which Sheila MacDonald describes a ghost in the hotel, which shows that reports continued. The Scotsman has described the castle as haunted when it was put on sale. Paranormal investigators have since reported odd noises and temperature changes during their visits.

The Wikipedia list of reportedly haunted locations in the UK includes Dornoch Castle among its Scottish entries.
