Donald Din and the Dream of the London Bridge Treasure

Dundonald Castle, Dundonald

Folk tale

Wikipedia's Dundonald Castle article gives this legend and notes that similar tales exist throughout Europe and the Middle East, and that a version appears in the Thousand and One Nights as 'The man who became rich through a dream'. The story is therefore an Ayrshire local attachment of an international folk tale. Dundonald was in fact a royal castle of Robert II, built from 1371.

Some tourist blogs call Dundonald Castle haunted, and one names Marjorie Bruce as the ghost, but no reliable source was found for either claim, so no ghost is recorded here.
