Florence Court, the Georgian house of the Cole family, stands below Benaughlin Mountain. The Cole family held it until the mid-20th century and a fire in 1955 nearly destroyed it, though local help saved much of the furniture. It is now run by the National Trust.
Spirited Isle says the ghost of a devoted housekeeper is said to linger, still looking after her home. Objects are reported to straighten themselves, doors to close quietly without a draught, and a faint scent of lavender to hang in rooms thought to be empty. A second figure is a spectral woman in a flowing blue gown, seen gliding silently along the long corridors and vanishing through closed doors. Some believe she was a member of the Cole family. Footsteps are heard on the grand staircase, and in the servants' quarters there are said to be knocks, murmuring voices and cold spots.
