Wallak Kirk and the Healing Baths of the Deveron

Wallak Kirk (St Wolok's), Dumeth, Glass

Custom recorded by 1881; presbytery order 1648

The presbytery minute is quoted in Gregor, from the Spalding Club publication of the Presbytery Book of Strathbogie. It ordered the restraint of burials in the kirk and censure of all superstition at Wallak Kirk, which shows that the custom was real and opposed by the church in 1648.

The healing power of the water is a belief. The map point is approximate and should be treated as the parish area.
