Fairy Encounters in the Glens: The Stolen Child, the Half-Crowns and the Quarry Tunnel

The Glens of Antrim and Ballintoy

Recalled in the late twentieth century

Mary McCurdy recounted several stories in the oral history project: a wee woman who asked that a byre be changed because of children sick with measles, an elderly woman who received a half-crown daily from a wee woman until she told someone about it, when the gift stopped, and a fairy tunnel discovered at Duncan's quarry in which candles went out.

Alex O'Boyle told of a child stolen for three days and kept alive only on water in a tin.
