In 1922 a Manx woman was cycling along the road from Peel towards Dalby. On the hill by the cottages at Gordon she became aware that something was coming after her. It was pale grey and shaped like a horse, but it had the head and face of a man.
It was gaining on her. She could not hear any hoofbeats. She pedalled up the hill as hard as she could in a panic. Past the top, and past the village of Glen Maye, she looked again and it had gone.
Gill gives no name, only that she was an educated woman, which in his book was his way of saying she was not given to fancies. It is one report, from one person, passed on by a collector.
