Witchcraft

The Lethnot Wizards and the Adder Stone

Lethnot and Burn of Calletar

Eighteenth century

This was a period when the death penalty for witchcraft had been repealed (1736) but belief survived, and cunning men offered counter-witchcraft. The source does not name the wizards or quote a contemporary record.

Adder stones, or snake stones, are a common Celtic charm.
