The Lismore Minister's Vision and the Funeral Custom

Early 19th century

In earlier times the refreshments were taken before the funeral party set out, so the mourners were sometimes far gone in drink before the sad journey. Campbell says there are even stories of people forgetting the coffin. The change is placed at Lismore.
