Wetherell's Nessie Footprints, 1933 (Hoax)

Loch Ness shore (exact beach not given in sources used)

Late 1933

The footprints matter mainly for what came next. Wikipedia reports that Wetherell was publicly ridiculed by his employer, and that his revenge was the Surgeon's Photograph of 1934, which he engineered with his son Ian, his stepson Christian Spurling and others. That photograph in turn was shown to be a hoax. See the separate record for it.

There is no suggestion that the footprints show anything about a real animal.
