The Coronet Theatre at 103 to 111 Notting Hill Gate was built in 1898 to a design by W. G. R. Sprague. It operated as a cinema from 1923, under names including the Gaumont and the Coronet, until 2014, when The Print Room took it over and turned it back into a theatre.
The ghost story is a short one. Londonist's tube map says a cashier was once caught raiding the till and was so ashamed that she leapt to her death from an upper storey, and that her footsteps can still be heard running upstairs to the scene of her fall. Martin Belam's 2007 blog on a Richard Jones ghost walk gives the same story, as a cashier overcome with guilt who threw herself over the balcony, and notes that the walk simply stopped to look at the beautiful building from outside.
Neither source names the woman or dates the incident, and a search of the Wikipedia article gives no mention of a death in the building. It looks like a ghost walk story that has been passed on between writers. It is therefore kept as a single report and a local tradition.
