The cloaked man of St Mary's, Putney

St Mary's Church and Putney Bridge, Putney

Undated

St Mary's stands beside the south end of Putney Bridge. Spooky Isles says that people passing the church have reported the unnerving apparition of a large cloaked man crouching among the tombstones.

The same figure is said to have been witnessed crossing Putney Bridge as it makes its way to the church. No name has ever been put to the ghost, but it is widely believed that he was a man who met a watery death after falling from the bridge.

The article gives no date or witness. This is a thin traditional report, and the drowning explanation is the retelling's own guess.
