The Giant and the Dwarf of Red Castle

Red Castle, Lunan Bay

Legend; set in 1194 and later

Angus Folklore calls the account a Victorian-era folk legend and an implausible tale. The name Daniel Cajanus belongs to a real eighteenth century Finnish giant, so a twelfth century setting cannot be right, which shows the tale was assembled later. The blog found no ghost connected to Red Castle itself.

The castle is a ruin on private land.
