The glen runs in an L shape along Whitebridge Road and back towards Little Mill, about five acres of trees and stream on the edge of Onchan. The story told to explain its name is that Molly Quirk was a local woman who was robbed and murdered there, and that she has never left. Her ghost is said to walk the glen still.
Nobody has found a record of the killing, and writers on the glen routinely point out that the tale has no proof behind it. Glens on the island are often named after owners or tenants of the land, which may be the more ordinary explanation. The White Bridge just downstream has its own phantom murder, heard rather than seen.
