The Monmouthshire and Brecon Canal follows the contour of the hills along the west side of the Usk valley, crossing and recrossing the old lanes between Abergavenny and Pontypool. It is quiet now, used by walkers and narrowboats.
The ghost reported by Alan Roderick, and summarised by the Great British Ghost Tour, is a tall woman in black with a shawl drawn up over her head, walking the towpath. The sighting was at a bridge where the old Abergavenny to Pontypool road crossed the canal, near a house called Ty-Part.
That is all the source gives. The house name should allow the spot to be found on an older map, but it could not be located for this record, so the pin is approximate.
