Wikipedia's list of UFO sightings in the United Kingdom records the case under 22 November 1978. At 5.15pm Elsie Oakensen of Church Stowe, Northamptonshire, was driving south down the A5 from Weedon Bec towards her home. She saw two bright lights, one green and one red, and could make out a dumbbell shaped object.
As she turned off the A5 for her village, her recently serviced car cut out twice. She then noticed that the sky had turned black and that a brilliant white beam of light was shining on the road ahead. The sky then returned to its normal colour. After the experience she could not account for fifteen minutes of her time.
The list gives only this summary and does not say who investigated, whether she was interviewed by a UFO group or what conclusions were reached. The case is a standard late 1970s UFO report with vehicle interference and missing time, which are features that are claimed in many such accounts. It is recorded as a single witness report.
