Beverley's Old Fire Station now operates as a working doctor's surgery, but during its earlier working life as an actual fire station, one member of staff reported an experience that has stuck firmly in the town's local ghost lore ever since: witnessing an apparition walk directly into, and then vanish through, a solid wall of the building, an experience vivid and specific enough to have outlasted the building's own later change of use.
The site is said to stand on ground once occupied by a First World War barracks, and local tradition connects the haunting directly to a violent murder said to have taken place there during that same wartime period, though no specific victim or documented case has actually been identified anywhere to confirm the story against a real historical record.
As a haunting, it remains genuinely thin on verifiable detail, a single witnessed account layered onto an unconfirmed historical claim about the site's own earlier wartime use, but it has nonetheless become one of the locations regularly cited in local tallies of Beverley's most haunted buildings, sitting alongside considerably better documented sites like the Minster and the Friary elsewhere in this collection.
