The Old House, Thringstone

Also known as: Thringstone House

The Green, Thringstone, near Coalville

House dates to 1290; haunting reports undated and traditional

The Old House near Coalville is a manor house with roots going back to 1290, and it carries an unusually dense local reputation for hauntings spread across multiple parts of the building, tied directly to a real history that includes murder, suicide, and the genuine discovery of buried human remains somewhere on the site. In the chapel, visitors and investigators report spectral figures, disembodied voices, and sudden, unexplained drops in temperature. The basement carries its own separate strand of activity entirely, including sightings of a dog-shaped apparition and an unseen presence said to actively move small stones and other objects around the space.

The dining room, meanwhile, is associated with a ghostly gentleman seen sitting alone at the table, who is reported to appear and vanish unpredictably without any warning to those who happen to be present at the time.

This is a house with enough genuinely dark real history behind it to make its extensive haunted reputation entirely unsurprising, but as with most multi-room haunted-house claims recorded throughout this collection, the individual reports rest on visitor and investigator testimony accumulated gradually over time, rather than on any single, clearly documented incident. Ghost-hunt listings give only the building's general area near Coalville without providing a full public address, so the coordinates given here represent an approximate match to a historic house in the Thringstone area rather than any confirmed exact location.

A privately owned building; access is generally limited to organised ghost hunt events.
