The report is reproduced from Ronnie Patterson's collection on the Scottish Big Cats site. The witness was on a section of the track with a hill rising on her left, and studied the animal as closely as she could, partly to convince herself it was there. It continued to prowl about in one small area and appeared calm. She later concluded that it was a puma.
It was one of several early reports in the Pentland and Midlothian area around 1979 to 1982, before the wave of reports of 1997. The pin is approximate, since no more precise place is given.
