Most ghost monks in Wales frighten people. The one at the Priory Hotel in Caerleon did the opposite.
According to the Great British Ghost Tour, a guest saw a hooded figure in a monk's habit of a cream colour standing in one of the rooms. The witness did not describe any fear. They came away feeling serene and happy.
The building's name suggests a religious past, and a Cistercian habit would be off-white. No date or witness is given, and the story is recorded as a single report.
The same page of the Great British Ghost Tour records that staff at St Cadoc's psychiatric hospital in Caerleon have seen a figure running down a ward corridor and vanishing, and that nurses have found beds moved into the middle of a room with the patient still asleep in them. That account is too general to map as a separate record.
