The Haunted House at Rathlin West Light and the Green Isle

Western end of Rathlin Island

Traditional

A lighthouse history page says the west end of Rathlin Island in County Antrim is associated with ghostly stories and that the nearest building to the West Light is notoriously known as the island's most haunted house. It adds that when Manx shearwaters nested there, their eerie night cries made for unsettling vibes. No specific incident is given.

Spooky Isles adds that a fairy island called the Green Isle is said to sit off the Causeway Coast near Rathlin and to be visible only once every seven years. The Irish legend of the enchanted island that rises from the sea once every seven years, and is saved forever if someone can throw soil or a pebble onto it before it sinks, is found along Ireland's coasts.
