The Hunched Figure of the Blue Bell Inn

Blue Bell Inn, Belmesthorpe

Undated

The Blue Bell Inn at Belmesthorpe stands in Ryhall parish inside Rutland, a short distance from the Lincolnshire border and Stamford. It appears in a list of haunted pubs compiled by the website BritBrief, which says only that it has "a hunched figure gliding towards a well".

That is all that could be checked. No named witness, date or earlier source for the haunting was found, nor any account of when a well stood near the inn, so it is treated as a bare pub tradition.

The entry is kept because Rutland has few haunted pubs on record and this one is at least listed by name by an independent guide. A claim about an old monastery on the site, repeated by one paranormal directory, could not be verified in another source and is not used here.
