Stonebridge Road

Stonebridge Road, St Ann's, Nottingham

Undated; reported as recurring, generally in the early hours

St Ann's, where Stonebridge Road runs, was heavily redeveloped in the 20th century, its dense Victorian terraces and small industrial premises largely cleared and replaced, which makes the area's reported haunting an interesting case of sound outlasting the building that supposedly made it.

Residents have reported hearing a factory siren sound out in the early morning hours along Stonebridge Road, at a time when no working factory remains in the immediate area to account for it, alongside separate reports of a woman screaming at similarly unsociable hours. No source found for this record ties either sound to a specific former factory, a named incident, or a date, and the story circulates without the kind of detail that would let a researcher chase it back to an original event.

Given how little can currently be verified, this entry is written up honestly as thin: a real piece of local report, repeated by more than one directory site, but without the supporting detail needed to move it beyond a dubious, undated tradition.
