Wikipedia places the stone at Balluderon in Angus and calls the dragon story local tradition. The place-names Pitempton Road and Baldragon Wood in the north of Dundee echo the dying speech. A student project reported by the Courier in 2015 suggested the story may reflect fertility rites and dated it to the Pictish period, though that is a speculation. The stone's carvings include a serpent and z-rod symbol and riders.
