Mr Ball phoned the report in to the researcher George Redpath after an article in the Press and Journal, some thirty years later. He wanted it on record that big cats were in Scotland before the Dangerous Wild Animals Act of 1976. The archive lists the report under Caithness, but the text puts it in Strathnaver, in Sutherland.
