Shackerland Hall Farm lies just south of the village of Badwell Ash. There are several ponds on the farm, but which of them is the one named after Nan Silvers is not known.
A local tale says that Nan was a young woman who drowned herself there after being spurned by her lover. The Badwell Broadsheet, the village newsletter, quoted in 2019 that she can be seen in the water of the pond on the night of the full moon.
This is a very thin village tradition. The source gives no date for Nan or the drowning, and I found no parish record naming her. The pin is on the farm, not on a specific pond.
