The Blessed House on Sula Sgeir

Taigh Beannaichte, Sula Sgeir

Legend of the early medieval period

The island is about 900 metres long and barely 100 wide, a gneiss skerry about 40 nautical miles north of Lewis, used by the men of Ness for the annual guga hunt of young gannets, which is licensed and controversial. The saint story is a single-source tradition tied to the neighbouring Ronan legend on North Rona. How old it is has not been established.
