The Green Lady of Sundrum Castle

Sundrum Castle, Coylton

Legend; reported in the 20th century

Green Ladies are among the most common castle ghosts in Scotland, and the Mysterious Britain gazetteer calls the story 'a common legend in castles throughout Scotland'. Wikipedia's article on Sundrum says the ghost was thought to be 'visitor boosting' in the 20th century, when the castle was a hotel, and names no witness.

The article also notes that the fall of the estate from the Cathcarts, who sold it in the 1750s, had come to be described as a curse by the end of the 20th century, after a 19th-century poem by Robert Chambers alluded to it. That claim is equally thin. A separate record covers the 2009 big cat reports from the estate.

The castle is now several private properties.
