The Duke of Lauderdale at Thirlestane Castle

The Border Telegraph's roundup says John Maitland, Duke of Lauderdale, is reportedly seen in some of the castle's chambers. Other ghost sites repeat that one of the dukes who lived there is thought to be John Maitland. One list makes a much darker claim about his victims, which I have left out because I could find no support for it.

There are no dates, witnesses or descriptions of what is seen. The castle, at Lauder in Berwickshire, is the seat of the Maitland family.
