Calder, writing in the nineteenth century, describes witchcraft as an imaginary source of crime in which the people firmly believed, and notes how often the presbytery records refer to it. The Thurso case, with names given under torture, follows the usual pattern. I have not found what happened to those named, and the Survey of Scottish Witchcraft database is the next place to look.
