The Cellar Toddler of the Black Bull, East Boldon

Black Bull, Front Street, East Boldon

Undated; reported before 2021

The Shields Gazette's 2021 guide to haunted South Tyneside pubs says a ghostly toddler has been seen sitting at the bottom of the cellar steps at the Black Bull in East Boldon. It adds other strange phenomena: gaming machine alarms mysteriously going off, and bottles rattling violently behind the bar.

No names, dates or witness accounts are given in the piece, and nothing ties the child to a particular event in the pub's history. As with many cellar ghosts, the claims are of the type that are hard to separate from ordinary noises, draughts and electrical faults, and the source does not say anyone investigated.

It is a short, single-source report and is tagged accordingly. The pin is the pub's location in East Boldon.
