Hall's Croft blue lady

Hall's Croft, Old Town, Stratford-upon-Avon

House c.1613; undated reports

Hall's Croft is a Grade I listed house in Old Town. The surviving structure dates to 1613, and Susanna Shakespeare and her husband Dr John Hall lived there until early 1616. In the 19th century it was a school, and the Shakespeare Birthplace Trust bought it in 1949.

Ghost listings say the stairs are haunted by a blue apparition named as Betty Leggett, who is said to have fallen to her death there. Other reports mention a child seen skipping through the corridors and two American female spirits, with visitors reporting cold spots and the feeling of being watched.

Higgypop and The Haunted Hub give the same short list and neither names a date, witness or any record of a Betty Leggett dying at the house. Wikipedia's article on the property mentions no ghosts. The property has been closed to visitors since the pandemic, so these reports predate that.
