The Black Cat at Aberlady Bay

Aberlady Nature Reserve

29 July 2001

The witness wrote that the animal was two to three times the size of a domestic cat, with a thicker tail, black with a tinge of brown, and that it ran off into thick woodland. Other people had seen it minutes before in an adjacent field and described it as the size of an Alsatian, though the witness thought it was smaller. That mix of estimates is common in such reports and may point to a large domestic or feral cat.

Aberlady Bay is a local nature reserve and open to walkers. The report was posted on the Scottish Big Cats site under the Beast of Lammermuir heading.
