The Moving Glasses and the Lintel at the Applebank Inn

Applebank Inn, Millheugh Road, Larkhall

Reports from modern times; lintel story undated

The tale of the lintel moving overnight is legend and not testimony, and the same page treats it that way. The moving glasses are the kind of report that cannot be separated from ordinary explanations such as vibration from the bar or a busy evening. A comment thread on a Blantyre history site notes a local who remembered hearing as a child that a ghost was rumoured to haunt the Applebank, so the association is at least old within the town.

The pin is set on Larkhall itself, as the exact position of the inn was not confirmed.
