The Wolves That Took the Children of Balfron

This is a name legend, the sort of tale invented to explain a place name, and the meaning offered for Balfron is itself uncertain. The first written reference to the village is as 'Buthbren' in 1303. I have kept the record short and marked the confidence low, since Wikipedia gives it as 'local lore' with no earlier source.
