A story circulated locally about a sighting at Ramoan Court in Ballycastle during the early days of the housing development there. A churchgoer visiting Ramoan Church graveyard was walking towards the exit when he noticed movement on the adjacent building site, separated from the church grounds by a wall. He looked over and saw what looked like a monk in a dark brown robe walking slowly across the site. As it was the weekend and the site should have been empty, he assumed it was an intruder. He climbed the wall and moved towards the figure, but each time he approached it seemed to move further away. He stopped and called out, and just as the figure seemed to turn to face him, it vanished.
