Later Grey Man Encounters: Tewnion, Densham and Frere

Ben Macdui and the Lairig Ghru

1943 to 1948; published 1958

Wikipedia sets out these accounts after Collie's. Tewnion wrote that the atmosphere became dark and oppressive, a bitter wind whisked among the boulders, and a loud footstep sounded, then another. When the shape kept coming, he fired. He wrote that he thought it really was the Fear Liath Mor. Frere also reported that an anonymous friend who camped on the mountain woke in dread and saw a large dark-haired figure against the moon.

These are named written accounts, but they are retrospective and in some cases second-hand. No photographs of the creature exist.

High mountain plateau; serious navigation and weather risk.
