Ann Grant at Borthwick Castle

Borthwick Castle

Tradition; undated

The Castles of Scotland account says Ann Grant was a local girl made pregnant by a Borthwick lord, seized, slashed across the abdomen with a sword and left to die in the room now considered haunted.

The same account gives a second ghost, believed to be a castle official executed by burning for embezzling from the Borthwick family. No dates or identities are given for either story.

Borthwick Castle is a real place with a well documented history, and the ghost stories are told with the family and the castle as backdrop. Wikipedia records no ghost story. The castle is a hotel and events venue.

Borthwick Castle operates as a hotel and events venue; access is normally by booking.
