The Flame Gasworks opened in 1855 and stayed active until 1987. Restored by the Gasworks Preservation Society, it opened as a museum in 2002 and shows how gas was extracted from coal.

Spirited Isle reports that volunteers have seen the ghost of a woman walking across the yard, and that poltergeist activity has taken place throughout the property. No further detail is given.
