Hauntings

Muriel Calder at Cawdor Castle

Cawdor Castle

Said to date from the early 16th century

The two versions cannot both be true, and the first does not match the dates given in the second. Muriel Calder is the heiress through whom the castle passed to the Campbells, so the ghost story is told about a real person.

The ghost is reported as handless in some retellings, but the sources used here give no witness names or dates for sightings.

Cawdor Castle is privately owned and open to paying visitors in season.
