Witchcraft

Helen Elliot, Carried to the Stake in a Chair

Culross

1684

The summary does not say how her legs came to be broken. In a period when torture was used to obtain confessions, that leaves a grim question the source does not answer. She is one of few named women from Culross beyond the four of 1675, though about thirty two people from the burgh were accused in all.

The pin is on the village and the execution site is not given in the source.
