The leader was a bonny white man riding a grey horse who showed her how to help people by washing, speaking and passing the sick through hanks of wool. She was strangled and burned on the South Inch. The paper compares this to other early cases in which contact with the fair folk stands in for the demonic pact that later cases described. It also cites J. W. Seath's unpublished notes on the parish of Dunbarney.
