Mackenzie files this under prophecies of doubtful fulfilment. He gives the Fearn Abbey disaster of 10 October 1742 as the rival candidate: a flagstone roof and wall fell in during service, killing about forty, who were buried together without distinction. See the Fearn record. He also says the 1742 service was thinly attended because a new congregation had been set up at Cadboll, which saved lives.
The record is held as contested because the sources disagree on which church, and I have not found a date for the Ferrintosh crush.
