Lady Grange on Heisker

Heisker (Monach Isles), west of North Uist

1732 to 1745

From around 1734 she was held in the Monach Isles, called Heisker in Gaelic, and she was not even told the name of the island where she lived. She was later taken to St Kilda. She described St Kilda in a letter as 'a viled neasty, stinking poor Isle'. Her lawyer, Thomas Hope of Rankeillor, sent an armed sloop in 1741 which arrived too late because she had already been moved. She was taken to Skye and died on 12 May 1745, though one source gives 1749.

This was a real kidnapping by powerful men who ensured no legal remedy, and not a supernatural event. Wikipedia's account does not mention any ghost story associated with her. The record is kept because the island held her for part of those years.
